Eyeglasses - Lot 74
Eyeglasses Early 20th century or earlier Widths: 13 cm and 9.5 cm (one lens missing from the smaller pair) Set consisting of two pairs of antique eyeglasses, illustrating the evolution of eyeglass frames at the turn of the 20th century. The first pair features a round tortoiseshell frame in shades of amber-brown, mounted on a metal frame. The bridge and temples display a simple, functional design, characteristic of late 19th- or early 20th-century designs. The second pair, which is smaller, is distinguished by a delicate metal frame with round lenses. One of the lenses is missing, emphasizing its character as an antique object preserved in its original, well-worn condition. Its small size suggests a pair of spare glasses or an old pince-nez-style model mounted on temples.
