American Bellows - Lot 69
American Bellows Height: 27.5 cm Work exhibited for the Face à Face exhibition in 2011 A forge or hearth bellows, consisting of two rigid wooden panels covered with weathered brown leather, assembled with a regular row of brass upholstery nails. The front face features a black metal plate attached to the panel, pierced by a central circular opening serving as an air inlet. A metal crank on the side activates the internal mechanism, allowing for continuous and steady ventilation, characteristic of so-called “American ” models with a rotary system, which are more efficient than traditional manual bellows with a handle. The upper part is adorned with a decorative plate featuring a checkered pattern, likely made of stamped sheet metal, which reinforces the structure while serving as an ornamental element.
