The ebony veneered counter-socle is decorated with quartefeuiles and a bas-relief representing an allegory of the arts in the Clodion style. Louis XVI period, circa 1780. Trace of decoration on the king's left breast, which has been erased. H : 46 ; W : 42 ; D : 16 cm Notes François Caranda, awarded the title of Master on January 4, 1741, became "Horloger du roi par livraison" (King's watchmaker by delivery) and settled in rue de l'Orangerie in Versailles in 1778.
